Scenario
The theme I was given in the client brief was – Elements (Earth, air, water and fire). I needed to include within my animation all of these aspects somewhere in the story.
The main task here would be to create a computer animation design, the animation needed to have a clear narrative which entertains the target audience, aged between 14-18-year-olds. The brief also stated that the animation should be at least 60 seconds long. The brief went on to say that the animation can be abstract but must demonstrate the basic motion of at least one character and include audio. The client would like this animation to play on the homepage of their website.

The brief gave the key requirements of the animation, they were that:
• It needed to be a minimum of 60 seconds.
• It needed to include the basic motion of at least one character, for example a walk cycle.
• It needed to include sound effects, voice-overs or music.
• It needed to include an interactive button throughout the animation to allow the user to continue parts of the animation.
• The animation needs to include the elements to demonstrate my animation skills and techniques.
It was decided that the animation would be my project for the year and that I would need to plan the animation thoroughly by:
- setting out aims
- reviewing the skills needed
- planning out a timeline to complete the project using a Gannt Chart
- researching animations for inspiration
- planning out the narrative
- justifying the narrative & explaining it’s appeal to the target audience
- creating a storyboard
- creating a list of the assets I would create and use with references to the owner of the assets used
- the legalgalites of producing an animation; how to protect myself and my animation.
