Project Aims and Actions

I set out first to establish my aims for the project and the actions that would need to be completed

To create a short animation with a focus on the four elements (Earth, Fire, Air & Water).
To improve my drawing ability and my ability with the Adobe Suite with a focus on Adobe Animate and Adobe Illustrator.
To improve my time management and organisational skills.
To utilise my existing knowledge to create basic motion of the animation and creation of the interaction button.
To acquire assets to add to my animation like sound effects, voice overs or music while giving appropriate credit to the creator of the assets.
To present the project to my peers.

Digital Skills Needed

Here I will set out the digital skills that will be needed to complete the animation project.

Software knowledge: Adobe Animate & Adobe Illustrator – I may need to look into online tutorials on how to use animate due to the tight amount of lesson time I have. I will use Adobe Illustrator to create storyboards to help me set out my visuals. I will use Adobe Animate to Create 2D animation, composite images, add sound, and render the files into a final form. I may use Adobe After Effects if there is time to refine the animation.

Design Knowledge – I will need understanding of the basic principles of designing animation. To do this I will look into what animators refer to the Twelve Principles of Animation Design, hopefully this will assist me in creating animation that looks natural to the human eye. I will also do research into theories of colour and graphic design.

Professional Skills Needed

Here I will set of the general and professional skills needed to complete the animation project.

Artistic ability – with Adobe Animate, this isn’t a necessity. A higher priority is an artistic eye and a creative imagination. For my project I need to be able to transfer my ideas from mind to screen.

Storytelling ability – I will need to give the audience a compelling narrative and characters to root for to accompany the actual animation.

Organization & Time management – It is vital for me to have good time management and organisational skills in order to manage a project and meet deadlines. To do this I will create a Gantt chart.

Dedication & Self Discipline – Completing your work in a timely manor is an important part of any job, but as this is for a qualification I will be working to a deadline, therefore I need stick to my timeline.

Project Management– This PowerPoint will contain my plan for the final design of my animation. I will do some research into how to plan a project to assist in the production of this plan.

Communication – I will need to present the project, to this end I will need to work on my public speaking skills like voice projection, eye contact, body language and working to the time allocated for my presentation.
