Website Design Document

This is my website design document for Ávextir Friends & Coffee Shop

We were given the brief of a coffee shop with a twist and the first thought I had that I latched onto was AR animals, say for those that have allergies or a phobia that stops them going to a traditional cat café

I then thought that it would be cool if the animals were made out of the fruit and veg that make up smoothies as I had just had a great experience at a smoothie bar and wanted to use it as inspiration

I first created a site map to plan out what I needed to create and code. I decided on four pages that would meet the brief of at least three pages. A home page, a menu page, a page on what creatures you could find at the café and a contact and booking page.

I created a mood board that shows all the inspiration I found online for fruit animals. I also looked into names that my coffee shop / café could be called. Inspired by a friend that used other languages to make his character names in Dungeons & Dragons. I first looked at Danish and found frugt dyr which roughly translates to fruit animals but I wasn’t sold so I kept looking. Eventually I settled on the Icelandic word for fruit Ávextir. I felt this was a very marketable name and it had charm to it.

I next moved onto colours that I would use for the website. we were advised to use Adobe Color as this would give the hex codes needed to input the exact colour into the code. I went with colours that were themed after fruit that I consided using for the drinks so there was consitantcey throughout the site.

This was my plan for how I wanted the home page to look, simple with an introductory statement and images of what my coffee shop would offer.

I create a plan on how I wanted to menu to look with clear columns for each category of product.

I next created a plan for the creatures page in which I added Ai generated images of the smoothie animals.

finally I create a plan for the contact and booking page that needed to include a map for the client brief.
