Unit 1: Final Edits


As the deadline drew close I focused on refining my model. Things like closing the bridge gap around the tang so it looks better and like a real sword. I also focused on making the lighting on the mirror render work on the pommel gem as due to the high transmission of the gem it wasn’t visible in the dark environment. I experimented with spot lights but in the end I found the best option was the increase the roughness slightly for the one render so the gem was visible. After taking the render I found the gem wasn’t as striking as I wanted. I was at a loss on how to change it up at this late stage without making it overly complex. I found the answer was a lot simpler than I thought I swap out the UV sphere I used and put a icosphere in its place using the existing coordinates, rotation and scale of the original UV sphere to ensure that the swap was done effectively. I retook my renders and I liked the change I made.
