This week we were given the proposal pack for the Final Major Project. Within that we had several aspects we needed to outline when creating our proposal This inlcuded:
- An elevator pitch of approximate 200 words.
- Three games we would look at for secondary research.
- Three types of primary research including how and what we would research, we also had to specify when we would have the results.
- Intended audience, looking at both our target demographic and our target psyhcographic.
- Hard and soft skills that we would need to use to create our project.
- Locations we would like to base areas of the game on
- Software we would use.
- How would record our ongoing reflection and how we would evaluate our work.
For me some of these answers were simple, I already knew I wanted to look at Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon for its dungeon design and the mechanics of the final boss, I knew I wanted to look at the Dragon Quest remake for its art style. I want to also look at Stardew Valley for its slingshot mechanic. I will make a survey to assess the requirements of my pixel art. I will create a focus group to create some primary research on what my game could look like. I will also do some minor research on environment, primary research on the Needwood Forest and secondary research on The Mlynki Crystal Cave and Vilcabamba the Lost City of the Incas.
I will now start my research by beginning to play Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon and I will take screenshots and note interesting aspect of the design and story. I will look into walking round the Needwood Forest and examined the environment to create a forest in my game. I will also look at reputable websites for information about the Mlynki Crystal Cave.
